The USP of Sales

A unique selling point or USP is what sets your business or product apart from your competitors. It’s important to know why you’re special.

But in 2019, your customer knows about USP better than you. Because it’s personal. Or in fact, your customer sees you all as so similar to each other that there’s no real difference.

I have discovered USPs by picking up the phone and talking to potential customers. Armed with what a company believes is their USP, and what desk research would have us believe. I am still overwhelmed by the insight gained from seeing a product or service through the eyes of the customers.

Some food for thought here too – in many cases what sets you apart is the way you sell. Especially if it’s a B2B service business.
